Dance of Awareness Surrey
Monthly conscious dance/movement classes with Marcus James
Dance of Awareness is a conscious dance practice that gives you the opportunity to move, express and connect with yourself and others in a gentle but profound way. It increases self-awareness while encouraging you to make friends with your body, let go of limiting patterns from the past, and find the confidence to express yourself more fully and freely. It offers a deep exploration of what it is to be in a body and to connect more authentically with yourself and others. I currently run a monthly class in Woking.
Dance of Awareness incorporates several strands, including character styles, authentic movement, five rhythms and mindfulness. In the class we move together with music through six stages – sensing, grounding, expressing, releasing, connecting and completing, allowing us to revisit our early body history, to celebrate the embodied patterns that make us unique, and to discover new ways of being who we are. As we move, release and breathe together, we open more fully into self-awareness and a wider consciousness of our place in the world.
I am an experienced Dance of Awareness teacher and trained with its originators, Tim Brown and Clare Osbond.
After a long break, my classes are re-starting in April 2025 in Woking on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month.
