Counselling and Therapy

Heal the Past | Let go of Anxiety and Stress│Resolve Trauma and PTSD

I’m an experienced therapist working both in-person and online. I offer a supportive, respectful space to help you heal, grow and reconnect with your own wisdom, resilience and strength. My work is person-centred, meaning that I won’t make diagnoses or make assumptions about you and your situation but will help you to find your own meaning and understandings and to find resolution in your own way. I offer traditional talking therapy and, if you would find it helpful, we can also work with embodiment using movement, breath and voice work. I work with many issues, and have particular interests in anxiety, trauma and PTSD, recovery from adult or childhood abuse, and sensory processing sensitivity (also known as Highly Sensitive People/HSP).

I believe that we all have an innate wisdom and tendency towards healing and wholeness. When we feel safe, accepted and allowed to be ourselves it is natural for us to start to orientate towards well-being and growth. There’s no formula. Everyone is different and my aim is to create a safe space in which you can unfold, explore, grow and let go of what no longer serves you in a way that feels right for you.

I aim at all times to treat you with understanding and respect, to meet you where you are, and to be authentic, present and empathic. I undertake to self-reflect, to be honest if I make a mistake, and to act responsibly and ethically. Some of the ways in which we could work include:

  • Talking. Often, talking and reflecting on our challenges and difficulties in a safe space, feeling heard and understood, and being supported in finding fresh perspectives is enough help us to sort through our feelings and make sense of things for ourselves.

  • Walking and talking. Some people find it more comfortable to work out of doors than inside. Walking together and talking things over can help you see the world in a new way. It may be comforting if you are in distress, and can help you discover fresh perspectives on what is going on in your life.

  • Trauma Work. If you have trauma we can work to help you feel safe again and, if you wish, to gently integrate  memories of what happened so  they no longer trouble you. I aim to offer a  space to help you learn to regulate difficult or overwhelming feelings,  and  techniques to enable you to  process  what happened in a safe,  controlled way if you wish to do so [read more].

  • Embodied Therapy.  Working through the body with movement, breath and the voice can offer a different perspective to traditional talk therapy, and provide powerful ways to bring fresh insight, shift trauma, and to make changes when talking and words on their own are not enough [read more].

From the first meeting with Marcus he put me at ease whilst talking about difficult subjects and encouraged me to work on issues that presented themselves physically as well as mentally. With his help and encouragement I was able to come to terms with things in my own time and way.
